Our Programs

I. Health and Education

A. Fighting against HIV-AIDS

IDA-Rwanda works with different groups of widows and children infected and affected by HIV AIDS, 10 groups of 300 women are being supported in small projects with income generation in three districts of the country. In addition to this, all groups have already initiated the monthly saving and lending system; all group members have been trained in bio-intensive agriculture so that they are increasing agricultural production on small scales.

B. Fighting against alcohol and drugs in youths

Nowadays, alcohol and drugs in young people are becoming a pandemic. We work with different partners to end this pandemic; starting in the 7 most-affected districts but with the purpose of covering the whole country. Youths are mobilized to get out of that pandemic, former drug users are psychologically treated and then grouped for the purpose of creating small businesses.

C. Access to the education of vulnerable and minority children

We support vulnerable children to have access to quality education by providing to them school materials, school fees where necessary and organize holiday camps to teach them different ethic values.

D. Strengthening of health facilities

We also construct and equip health posts in rural communities where they are most needed. The health post above has been constructed and equipped by IDA Rwanda; it is serving more than 5000 people in Ngororero District, Western province of Rwanda.

II. Gender promotion and Human rights advocacy

A. Disability and minority right advocacy

People with disabilities have been taken as they are not able for everything, this discrimination has been affected a great number of them; in our sub program called “I am able”; people with disability are educated on their rights; we empower them economically by financing their projects with income generation.  We ensure the inclusive education of children with disabilities. 12 groups of women with disabilities have been trained on project management, and each group got a seed capital for starting a small project with income generation.

B. Promotion of gender equality

Gender equality has been misunderstood, especially in rural areas; we educate community members; the meaning of gender equality and how it must be applied in our communities. We also empower women economically so that they should be able to contribute to the development of their families.

C. Fighting against domestic violence and sexual abuse

Domestic violence and sexual abuses look like pandemic in nowadays. We work with domestic violence survivors, healing them; share testimonies with fellows and help them getting access to justice. We carry out community outreach, awareness campaigns and discuss with different governmental organs the best way to eradicate this pandemic. We carry out sensitizations in different schools with students and teachers for purpose of working against domestic violence and sexual abuses from the roots. Survivors of domestic violence and sexual abuses are helped to speak out about what happen to them as one of the most cure from the trauma.

We are strengthening their economic capacity in order to help them getting out of the dependent life and build their bright future with their children.

III. Water, sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) promotion

Water is life!

We cannot not speak about water without talking about Hygiene and sanitation; all these terms are taken in the same package. You cannot be sure that you are supporting someone getting out of vulnerable life, without considering an issue of clean water, hygiene and sanitation especially in rural communities. So, what we do is to make sure that our beneficiaries have access to adequate WASH infrastructures like clean water, improved latrines and get frequently education to hygiene.

IV. Environment protection and nature conservation

Environment protection and nature conservation

Environment protection and nature conservation are cross-cutting to all of our programs; our beneficiaries are educated on the importance of environment protection and nature conservation. Some of our donors accept to support and assist them in trees planting; rainwater harvesting

 V. Emergency

We care!

IDA-Rwanda intervene also during the emergency period; the time when vulnerable people are most in need of our different services and support.
